The concept behind this first version prototype of “First Art Kit” project stems from my love/collection of antique first aid kits – however, deeper than that, I wanted to connect this little kit to the subject matter prevalent in my work (i.e. the ever present “Boo Boo Bands”) and the exploration of sickness, injury, scars juxtaposed with concepts of beauty and life. There are people who live life – even when they are sick, dying, hurt or injured, scarred… traumatized – they continue to live and enjoy themselves and these people should not be made to feel lesser than someone without scars or sickness or injury… don’t make someone feel they need to stay cooped up in their house because they are sick. Let them live life to the extent that they feel fit. On that same note, scars and sickness shouldn’t make you less photographable or less beautiful. They can tell a story and they can be much more interesting. I would love to see more representation in mainstream media from people with interesting aesthetics and less false concepts of “perfection”.

MUMBOT’s FIRST ART KIT

I worked very hard creating, putting together and designing this set and all of it’s parts. Also, I worked with local professional Thai craftspeople for the production, screen printing, book printing, embossing and binding, stickers as well as a local design studio (NVSC) for many things including printing, photography and more. There are only a few of this prototype version of MUMBOT’s FIRST ART KIT!
